Disadvantaged
  • Arts & Crafts: Contact your local charity or community club to assist in or coordinate an Arts & Crafts class for the disadvantaged.
  • Car Mechanics: If you have experience in mechanics/panel beating; contact your local welfare organisation to become involved in a car restoration program, or conversely, offer a car maintenance class for single mums through their organisation.
  • Clubs: Contact a local Scouts, Guides or Pathfinder Club and sponsor a disadvantaged child through the program.
  • Computers: Contact your local neighbourhood centre or Department of Community Services (DOCS) to be connected with families who need access to computers for disadvantaged school children or adult students, then find corporate organisations that are discarding old computers and distribute them to these people.
  • Counselling/Conflict Resolution: If you have completed an accredited counselling course; contact your local charity to become involved in counselling programs for victims of domestic abuse.
  • Gardening: Contact your local charity for people with a disability to become involved in a gardening assistance and maintenance program for those with disabilities.
  • Living Skills: Contact your local charity to become involved in or coordinate a Living Skills assistance program, where disadvantaged people are instructed in the areas of food preparation, sewing and home maintenance.
  • Music Classes: If you have experience in a particular musical field; contact your local charity to become involved in music classes for disadvantaged youth.
  • Prison Post-Release Programs: Contact your local Prison Chaplain to become involved in programs which offer support for prisoners post-release, helping them integrate back into their community, including assistance with finding accommodation and employment as well as providing advice on health and nutrition issues.
  • Yard Maintenance: Contact your local neighbourhood centre to be connected with, or coordinate, a team of like-minded volunteers who offer a yard maintenance service, particularly for the aged or disabled.
